Alena Sergeevna Kostornaia is an outstanding Russian figure skater, renowned in both singles and pairs skating. Born on August 24, 2003, in Moscow to a sporting family, she began figure skating at an early age and quickly established herself as a talented athlete. Under the guidance of renowned coaches such as Marina Cherkasova and Eteri Tutberidze, Alena has achieved significant success on the international arena.
Her achievements include winning the 2020 European Championships and the 2019/2020 Grand Prix Final. Alena also won silver at the 2020 Russian Championships and is a two-time bronze medalist at national championships (2018 and 2019). As a junior, she won silver at the World Junior Championships and the Junior Grand Prix Final.
In 2019, Kostornaia made history as the first singles skater to score more than 85 points in the short program and more than 247 points in the overall score. Her triple Axel technique impressed the audience at the CS Finlandia Trophy.
Since January 2023, Alena has been competing in pairs skating with Georgy Kunitsa. Their duo quickly gained popularity thanks to their harmonious execution of complex elements. In August of that year, the couple got married.
