On January 11, the Heydar Aliyev Sports and Concert Complex will host the exciting fairy tale show "The Nutcracker" created by Yana Rudkovskaya and Evgeni Plushenko. The production, based on the classical libretto of the ballet by P. I. Tchaikovsky, will take the audience to a magical kingdom under the Christmas tree. The main character Marie, thanks to her godfather Drosselmeyer (performed by Evgeni Plushenko), will help the Nutcracker (Sasha Plushenko) defeat the Mouse King and go on a fairy tale journey to the city of Confettienburg.
This new production is primarily aimed at children, but will also be interesting for adults. The show combines ballet parts and figure skating, complemented by bright multimedia effects, stunning scenery and magnificent costumes. Olympic figure skating champions and new heroes will create an unforgettable atmosphere. The ice show promises to be a real New Year's fairy tale for the whole family, filling the holiday weekend with magic and sorcery.
Yana Rudkovskaya, one of the creators of the show, shares her impressions: “My favorite scene in the Nutcracker ballet is the waltz of snowflakes. Snow is like a guide to the New Year's miracle. I want this moment to be one of the most large-scale and memorable. Large and small snowflakes on the parquet and on skates will fill the entire arena. The wind drives the dancing snowflakes, taking them to a magical land.”
